Hadith

On the authority of Abu Dharr Jundub ibn Junadah, and Abu ‘Abd-ir-Rahman Mu’adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) said:

“Be conscious of Allah wherever you are. Follow the bad deed with a good one to erase it, and engage others with beautiful character.”

Surah Baqarah Aya 222

Surely Allah loves those who always turn to Him in repentance and those who purify themselves.

Recipe by Teta Rasmia

For the preparation of baklava you will need:

• Phyllo pastry

• pistachio

• melted butter

Phyllo pastry is made up of many sheets, so we bring a tray and make a layer of ten sheets, and we spread butter all over every sheet and layer them into the tray. Then we bring crushed pistachio and spread them over the first layer.

Next we repeat and add another ten sheets, spread with melted butter, then layer the pistachios.

Add the last layer of ten Phyllo sheets and spread butter all over.

Now cut the baqlawa into squares.

Then bake it for 20 minutes at 180°C. It should turn a golden colour.

Then we prepare the syrup.

It’s consists of 2 cups of sugar and 1 and 1/2 cup and a teaspoon of lemon juice. Let it come to the boil then bring it down to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes. You can add rose water if liked.

Once the syrup has, cooled, pour it over the warm baqlawa. Slice it up and enjoy!
